Our mission is to bring the wonderful and traditional world of Japanese sake (nihonshu) to English speakers worldwide. There is so much to enjoy. Not only the taste of the actual beverage, but also the culture surrounding the sake-brewing world, the life of the brewers, rice growing, even the architecture of the breweries. We want to convey all of this to the English-speaking world and to give everyone a chance to experience the taste and tradition of Japanese sake.

We hope you enjoy this tour of Japan's sake world. Our site features the sake and people of small family-run Japanese breweries. We select only those brewers who make great sake and those who continue to practice ancient brewing traditions despite great pressure to abandon their art to mass brewers and modern culture.
